Workshops
We are running a number of workshops this spring at our VAC pop up at the Indoor Market. The cost is £20 pp and workshop. This is inclusive of all materials. Please contact individual artists for additional info and to book.
Encaustic Art Workshop (painting with wax)
with Sophie Kelly – Saturday 4th April 2026, 1pm till 3pm
An opportunity to experiment with Encaustic Art. In this workshop you will learn how to use Encaustic Wax (made from beeswax) to make images using an iron and a heated stylus to transfer the wax onto paper. A brief demonstration of the techniques will be. followed by a chance to try them out for yourself. All materials and equipment are provided, but please bring an apron or overall to protect your clothing. This workshop is suitable for those age 18 and above. It is to be held at the VAC Gallery in the covered market, Northwich, CW9 5BB. Creating a Holiday Journal with
Northart – Saturday 18th April 2026, 1pm till 3pm
Have fun crafting your own personal travel journal:
A meaningful handmade book made using beautiful papers, fabrics, ‘bits and pieces’ and mementos from your holiday. This is a hands-on, beginner-friendly session to create a personalized, decorated journal to take on holiday or create when you get home, to keep those precious memories.

Landscape Painting with Palette Knives
May 9th , 1pm – 3pm with Douglas Hutton.

The workshop is suitable for all abilities. We will spend a short time playing with the palette knives and the paint to get the feel of things. Then we will produce a small painting that the participants will be able to take home at the end. All materials will be provided. Please wear old clothes!

About us
Visual Arts Cheshire (VAC) is a Northwich based arts organisation and Comunity Interest company.
Our aim is to promote visual arts in Northwich through a variety of initiatives and events including exhibitions and workshops.
We are currently based inside Northwich Market Hall on Apple Market Street, following our three year residency at Barons Quay. We have previously held exhibitions at the iconic Weaver Hall Museum, the Plaza cinema/bingo hall (closed in 2011).
We continue to plan further events. We run the summer Art Trail and produce the Northwich Calendar each year. In 2018 we introduced the Children’s Art Trail which is now a regular annual feature.
